WordPress Support & Maintenance UK
Most businesses pay twice: once for hosting, again for a "care plan" that covers backups, monitoring and security. On G7Cloud, that care is the hosting. Every plan includes it, from £9/month — no separate retainer.
The care baseline
What "managed WordPress care" means here
Six concrete things the platform does for every WordPress site, every day — the same jobs a paid maintenance plan would bill you for.
Backups, restore-tested nightly
Daily, weekly or monthly backups plus manual snapshots — and every single backup is restored into a real sandbox each night to prove it works. Full, single-file and database-only restores.
Uptime monitoring with alerts
Independent HTTP checks every minute. If your site stops responding you get an email, webhook or Slack alert immediately, plus a daily digest and 90 days of resource metrics.
Security via ScaleShield
WAF rules and bot filtering in front of every site, dropping exploit scanners and login-guessing bots at the edge. Your site also runs isolated in its own container with its own database.
TLS handled end to end
Free certificates on every domain — wildcard included — issued and renewed automatically, with expiry alerts from monitoring as a belt-and-braces check.
PHP upgrades on your schedule
PHP 7.4 through 8.4 available per site. Move up when you are ready — and use site cloning to test the new version on a copy of your site before switching live.
Full access: SFTP & WP-CLI
Managed never means locked out. SFTP on port 2222 (with scoped sub-accounts), WP-CLI for scripted admin and phpMyAdmin for your dedicated database.
Under the hood
How the monitoring and backup pipeline works
This is not a plugin running inside your WordPress install — it is platform infrastructure running outside it, which means it keeps working even when WordPress itself is broken.
Monitoring is independent
A separate monitor requests your site every minute from outside your container. If WordPress white-screens, the monitor still sees it and still alerts you.
Backups capture files and database together
Your WordPress files and your dedicated MariaDB database are backed up on schedule, incrementally, with optional off-site copies to your own S3, R2 or SFTP target.
Every backup is proven, nightly
An automated job restores each backup into an isolated sandbox — a genuine working restore, not a checksum. A backup that cannot restore is a failure we find that night.
Alerts reach you where you work
Email, webhooks or Slack for incidents; a daily digest for the calm days; TLS expiry alerts long before a certificate could lapse.

This is platform care, not an agency retainer
We would rather lose a sale than blur this line. G7Cloud's WordPress support and maintenance is the managed layer around your site — infrastructure, backups, monitoring, security, migration. It is included with hosting and there is nothing extra to pay. It is not a web design or development service.
Included with every plan
- Backups, restore-tested nightly
- Per-minute uptime monitoring + alerts
- ScaleShield WAF, bot filtering, managed TLS
- PHP 7.4–8.4, SFTP, WP-CLI, phpMyAdmin
- Free assisted migration onto the platform
- Human support from UK-based engineers
Not what this is
- Not a standalone retainer you buy without hosting
- Not content editing or copywriting for your pages
- Not custom theme or plugin development
- Not SEO or marketing services
- Not blind auto-updating of your plugins
Need those? Keep your developer — and give them a platform with cloning, WP-CLI and scoped SFTP that makes their work safer.
WordPress support & maintenance — honest answers
Is this a monthly WordPress maintenance retainer?
No — and that is the point. Agencies typically charge £50–£150+ a month (as of July 2026) for "WordPress care plans" that are mostly backups, monitoring and updates. On G7Cloud that platform care — restore-tested backups, per-minute monitoring, ScaleShield security, TLS management — is simply part of hosting, from £9/month. There is no separate support product to buy.
So what exactly is included, and what isn’t?
Included: the platform layer — backups (restore-tested nightly), uptime monitoring and alerts, ScaleShield WAF and bot filtering, TLS issuance and renewal, PHP versions 7.4–8.4, SFTP/WP-CLI/phpMyAdmin access, site cloning on Business and above, and free assisted migration in. Not included: content editing, custom theme or plugin development, and SEO work — we are a hosting platform, not a web design agency.
Do you update my plugins for me?
We do not blind-auto-update plugins — that is how live sites break. Instead we give you the safe workflow: clone the site, run updates on the clone, verify, then apply to live, with a manual snapshot first and restore-tested backups behind you. WP-CLI is there if you want to script it.
What support do humans actually provide?
UK-based engineers who run the platform answer support. We help with anything platform-side: migrations, DNS and email setup, backup restores, PHP version issues, monitoring configuration. Pro plans get priority support and Agency plans get dedicated support. We do not advertise response-time SLAs we cannot guarantee.
How does the free migration work?
Assisted, start to finish: we build a copy of your site on G7Cloud while your current site stays live, you preview it on a temporary URL, and DNS only switches when you approve. It is free on every paid plan — see the migration service page for details.
My site is currently broken — can you help?
If you are migrating to us, tell us what is wrong when you request the migration and we will flag what we can fix as part of the move (hosting-level issues like PHP version conflicts, TLS and DNS problems are common and usually straightforward). For ongoing custom development you will still want a developer — we are honest about that line.
